The transmission is flawless and was rebuilt last month($1700) by a local specialist as the gears were beginning to slip(12 month warranty). Just about every detail has been addressed to make this engine utterly reliable. All new filters, power steering flush, overflow tank for radiator, new battery and dedicated transmission cooler. I also did a complete coolant flush and installed new belts and hoses. As for ignition, all new spark plugs, wires, distributor cap, rotor, Pertronix ignitor, and flamethrower coil. I have completely flushed and sealed the fuel tank and installed a new fuel pump, Holley 750 carburetor with electric choke, and a quality fuel pressure regulator. I have spent a great deal of time and money making sure this car performs flawlessly as a daily driver. No overheating at speed or idle, no smoking, no engine noises. I have personally driven this car from Minnesota to Atlanta with no issues at all. The car has about 20,000m since the complete engine rebuild. The oil stays cleaner between changes than any other car I’ve worked on. I can personally attest to the quality of this rebuild, which is a term that gets tossed around fairly casually in the classic car world. His father was a machinist by trade and rebuilt the current 390 engine himself to factory standards. His son kept the car for 5 years and had the vehicle repainted approx. It was purchased from my friend, who’s father used it very sparingly prior to his passing. Up for sale is my 1965 Ford Galaxie Convertible.
